Pictures of the car being repaired |
|
|
|
|
Well, I sent the car in yesterday to the shop (Nov 16th 1998) to be fixed. I told the mechanic that there was a camera in the rear seat that I wanted him to take pics along the whole repair process. We'll see if he does. He's a great guy so I know he will. Once I get the page up I'll put an ad for him up here incase anyone in the area needs a good body guy.
Nov 19th, Went down to take a look. It got delayed a day or so because there was a truck on the frame puller that needed a part before they coud finish it. Had the hood nose, and fenders off. You know what, the car looks better with a nose on it.......
Nov 24th, Stoped in after class. They have about all the the panels hung and the underside of the hood painted. DUSTY!!!!! The car is in for a nice bath once it gets back. The didn't have the nose on it but they said it should be all painted by later today. And then it's all detailing and Decals. They also took out all the dents on the car.....front to back. Yippie! And they are going to touch up a scracth or two on the rear quarter panels. Great guy, hardly charging me for all the dents and scratches. If your in the area....this is your man. He will keep you car looking like it should. He does not just fix it it, he Restores it back to orgional. And he'll do what you ask him. Nice guy to talk to also.
Nov 29th, Stoped in again after class. The had the whole car painted and sitting outside. They didn't have the decals on it, or the headlight covers. Paint looked real good. Should be done Wensday because their decal guy got tied up. Looks good though, I'm happy. I'll get the pics up when I get them.
Dec 2nd, Picked up the car this morning. Paint is great. Few things needed to be looked at, decal on the nose was black...instead of silver, two small foam pads were fogotten when things were put back on, and most impotiant is the fact I don't have any lights. Something may have gotten screwed up in the replacement or in the hit itself. They made an apointment to get the car looked at and fixed, nothing too major. The paint looks great though. Can't complain about the body work. And they gave me some extra paint and tips on how to get the chips taken care of. The dent in the door is totaly gone, and so is the small one in the top of the left fender. I'll get the pics all scanned 1st chance I get.
Dec 9th, The car is totaly out of the shop. All things I listed before that were wrong were quiclky taken care of and corrected with no problems. I put some decals on the front and rear windows today. LOOKS NICE. Look in the "repaired" page to see the final product of all this effort. Car lost it's breaks today though...I can't win I tell ya! It's now in ANOTHER shop being worked on. I feel like lately I've been barrowing the car from the shops insead of owning it. All should be well soon though.

This the place that did the work. The guy I dealt with is Kip Hall. I would suggest them if your in the area. Real easy to deal with and they are happy to show you what is going on and what will be done. All the times I have stoped off to see how things were going Kip would take me out back and show me the car and what he is going to do next. And he keeps you aware of what parts are going into the car, so you don't look at the bill and go.......What's this for? I can thank Roger for showing me these guys. |

Here is a picture of the car finished of.....almost. Under the right headlight should be a silver "Dodge" decal. They had gotten a black one and were waiting for the Silver one to come in. |

Another finished picture. Another thing that wasn't on the car at the time of this picture are two black foam inserts that go into the "fake" vent on the door Gfx, below and to the rear of the door. The inserts are to make it appear that the vent is functional instead of being a filled in hole. |
