What thhh......This can't be good....CRASH!!!!
Here is a shot of the nose form the oposite side of the Damage.
A shot of the car head on. You can kinda see how much the frame is bent from the gap on the left side of the hood from the fender.
A full shot (Except for that damn tree) of the side of the car showing nose Damage.
A closed hood shot showing how much the nose was crunched
A better shot with the hood up showing the damage to the nose. Luckly everything happned before the Intercooler and Radiator.
Just another shot of the damage to the side
Damage to the front drivers side of the hood.
Well, I bet your wondering what happned here. I was sitting in a parking lot in a space with the nose facing the lane (I had backed in). Got in, inched forward slightly to see if the lane was clear to pull out. Once I was so I could see I looked left then right.......just in time to see a girl in a Jeep driving close to my row.....and she was looking over her shoulder. I remember saying "This can't be good" as I fumbled to get the car into reverse. Well...as you can see I didn't get it into gear and she hit me. She didn't even see me until I was already under her. This was like 3 days after the Urbana car show. I was very calm.....which surprised me because I figured if anyone ever hit my car I'd be going up on murder charges soon afterwards. But I was nice and calm...only thing I could think to say as I looked at this Jeep Larado parked on my nose was "I think I need a bigger car". So we did the whole exchanging insurance thing. And got a hold of the mall security because that's where this all happned. We asked them if they could call the police for us so we could get a report written. The Guard told me that unless the damages on the car exceded $100,000 the cops would not respond because it happned on private property. $100,000? What the hell do they think people drive out here? Yeah...Damn....TOTALED the Rolls Royce again. So I left my fate in the hands of the Mall guard to fill out a report for the insurance company. Leaving your life in the hands of a Security guard at the mall....kinda makes you cringe huh? So he took both stories and told me where to call for the report. So all that was left now was to get the home. I went to turn mine around and heard a loud grinding noise from the fender being pushed to near the tire. But I could still drive. Well, the Jeep was taken away on a wrecker because her fender had been pushed straight back into her tire and she could not move or turn hers. Mine receved nose, fender, nose Gfx, hood, various internal parts on the nose, and a bent frame. She had less...but worse damage. At least my airbag didn't go off. I would have come out of the car swinging if that happned.....once my ears stoped ringing. The damage done to my car was estimated at $3,300 - $3,800. Which....unfortinaly totals the car out. So it's now on a Salvaged title. The accident was put as my fault because in the state of VA your supposed to yield when pulling out of a spot. Hmmmmm....I wasn't pulling out yet, I was sitting at a dead stop. So as far as they see it....she could have been driving with her feet from the back seat and as long as I was pulling out....or the intent to pull out....it's my fault. Yeah, who said law and common sence go hand in hand. Oh well. One funny note on all of this is 45 mins before I was hit I was sitting in the Grocery store parking lot with my now ex-girlfriend. She turned to me and asked "Do you love me or the car more?". To which I answered "Well...it's close but I'm going to have to go with the car on this one...but your a DAMN close second.". And her reply was "What if I wrecked the car, then would you love me more?". And I said "No, I'd never speak to you and I'd devote all my time to fixing the car". Needless to say the car was totaled less than an hour later. After the crash and everything settled down I could hear her saying "I'm number one, I'm number one" quietly. Cute girl....... So now her nick name is "Jinx". And she will be forbidden to speak in the car once it's fixed up.
Well, the insurance company wanted to total it and give me $2,600 and the car so I could fix it. I figured I would try out the "rare" card and get them to send an adjuster. Good idea, got it so they were giving me $3,100 and the car. So now I'm just waiting to get it in the shop. Goes in on Nov 16th 1998. I'll try and get pics of the car being rebuilt at all stages and make them a page when I get them.
