Matt Houff's 1990 Shadow VNT
I picked it up from Cliff Sebring in Delta, Pa for less than $3,000 with 106k on the odometer. The car runs 15.0 with only a direct fit K&N, Magnacore wires, and a 2.5" madrelbent catback exhaust, all courtesy of Forward Motion. Only things that I have done is add a four point harness, a few stereo related items, a Greddy turbo timer, and replace the head gasket and timing belt on it (Special thanks to Joe and Ryan form Forward Motion) The car is 1 of 141 VNT shadows in 1990 and 1 of 30 with the sought after Competition Package, with Bill Baker owing another black one (which is no longer a VNT). Mine came with A/C and cruise controll (Can't figure that out....) |

This is my 1990 Chrysler Daytona Shelby VNT. The car now has 116,000 kms on it. I bought the car in 1995 and am the 4th owner. Currently the only modifications are a K&N Filtercharger, a 3" Race Magnum muffler, and a centerforce dual friction clutch. the car was recently in an accident and was repaired, but not really as well as it was originally. I hope to raise some money in the future to get the car restored properly. Future plans are for a Neil Emiro modified computer, and new larger VNT from TEC, and the 20% injectors with the 3 Bar MAP sensor. I would like to get a better intercooler, but being in college makes it tough to afford such luxuries. |

I found this car last summer at a small car dealership in Norwood Mass. They had no idea what the car was. They only it was a very low mileage Daytona. I drove the car home in less than 48 hours after looking at it (For a steal!!). It had almost every option but the best part was that it had only 17,000 origonal miles. I really had no where to keep yet another car. For the next two months I drove the car while trying to sell it. Finally at 21,000 miles, my younger brother decided he too wanted to get in on the Shelby experience so he is now the current owner of this beauty. |

I never liked Chryler cars (Don't start the hate mail just yet). My 86 Z-24 was getting a little tired so I started looking for a car in the spring of 1990. A friend of mine that was into Mopars made me stop at the local Dodge dealership to look around. For some reason, I always though the GLH-S was a sweet looking car so I walked over to two CSX's that were sitting in the lot. I had no intention of buying, just looking. Both had standard tires and no Recaros. A salesman came out and asked me if I would like to drive it. My friend wanted me to and I thought it would be worth the laugh I would get out of it. Taking off from the lot I was surprised to see that it felt as if it had as much torgue as my Z-24. Then (as happned with Ed), the boost kicked in. I was in love. The dealership had two of these "Leftovers" so I thought for sure they would deal. They wanted $14,000 (Sticker was $16,000) I wasn't impressed any more and left. Over the next six months, I tried to negotiate a better price. Finally, in November of 1990, they agreed to $11,000. I picked out one of the two with in a week, the other also sold. A year later the other one was traded in and I told my Mopar friend about it. Today his has over 180,000 miles on it. The engine has never been opened (thank you Mobil 1) or has the turbo or clutch needed replacement. Mine took a diffrent path. At 16,000 miles the turbo started whining. When they replaced the turbo, they found cracks in the head (no big surprise there). A year later, (at 40,000 miles) I started storing the car for the winters. After two years of driving the car 2,000 miles a year, I decided it was time to sell it to someone who could enjoy it more. Well, last winter I could not take it anymore. I needed my baby back. I called the new owner. He was taking parts off it for his CSX. I was sick. I told him to name his price and I saved my car from becoming a donor for his. He did scoff the perfect front air dam and swapped 2 fiberides from his CSX Other than that, the car was pretty much the same as I had left it. I'm back to storing the car most of the time but I don't car anymore. Right now, the car has 72,000 miles and is 100% original. |

My wife and I bought our Daytona in October of 1993. it had about 50,000 miles at that time. We paid about $9,000 for it. It is Daytona Blue with Quartz leather interior. I don't know what is standard and what is optional equipment but ours has the power enthusiast seat and the infinity cassette sterio system. The car now has 75,000 miles on it and spends most of the time in the garage. It is stock except for a Shelby valve cover which the origional owner put on and Mopar performance plug wires that I installed |

Here is the Story of my 1990 Dodge Daytona Shelby VNT. I searched nearly two years before I got lucky enough to find one in near mint condition and close enough to home to make it a reasonable purchase. Originally my VNT is from Ohio where a police officer owned it. A guy in Michigan who knew what the car was then bought it. Unfortunately for him he got divorced and needed to refinance somethings, so the car had to go. That made me the third and hopefully the last owner, when I bought it in Oct 1998. My VNT is loaded with nearly every option available including leather interior. The only option missing is the really fancy overhead console that tells temp and has the compass. My VNT is all origional with 62,000 miles on it and has been stored every winter. My plans for it are pretty simple, to keep it as clean and origional as possible with no modifications ever planned. It's a perfect example of Variable Nozzle Turbo technology at it's best. |
